Thornton Manor was the home to one of the greatest industrialists of our time, Lord Leverhulme, founder of Unilever.

Over three generations the Manor became a major focal point within the Wirral, regularly welcoming the Queen Mother, celebrities from the stage and television, government officials and CEO’s of major institutions. Thornton Manor operates with complete discretion, whether a large event or a small gathering and has its own distinct appeal which unites the classic sophistication and unrivalled attention to detail that has made this estate a legendary setting for extraordinary events. As you enter the estate through the arched gate-house you are immediately met with an impressive sweeping courtyard. The Manor combines all the best of modern living with the period features of an older building. Entrance Hall, French Drawing Room and Great Hall The Entrance Hall is an ideal reception area, perfect for registration, which leads nicely into either the French Drawing room or Great Hall where guests can be treated to a buffet style luncheon with tea/coffee serving areas. Thornton Manor Terrace On a hot summers day the Great Hall has two entrances leading onto the terraces offering guests impressive views of the estate and an idyllic outdoor catering area for up to 160 people (weather permitting). Dining Room As relaxed or as formal as you like, the Private Dining Room caters for up to 24 guests board room style or 36 for a seated dinner. Located close to the Great Hall it is perfect for private dining, lunch or dinner, where a varied menu is offered and excellent service provided. It has a further option to seat 100 in theatre style for a more formal setting. Manor House Ballroom Originally called the Music Room, the Manor House Ballroom is situated at the back of the Manor and has been the setting for many society weddings, luxury balls and even a state banquet. This is a prestigious venue for impressive business conferences and offers private dining for up to 100 guests In addition to the 23 guest rooms within The Manor House itself Thornton Manor can provide individually designed Mews and Cottage accommodation within a selection of 12 properties that are situated throughout the sprawling gardens The Lakeside Marquee This idyllic setting makes the perfect environment for a broad range of conference events from a staff training day or conference dinner to a summer party or Christmas ball. It can be tailored or dressed to suit your needs with a variety of corporate themes and set-ups. The Waterside Pavilion The Waterside Pavilion is a multi-functional marquee offering the ideal space for team building activities The Walled Garden Pavilion The Walled Garden Pavilion is spacious, elegant and timeless and is an impressive setting for a bespoke, private event. Its flexibility means that we can adapt the large interior to seat up to 750 for dining and 900 for theatre style conference. Encircled by a beautiful Victorian red brick wall, established trees and filled with seasonal planting, the Walled Garden is a secluded setting, allowing you to conduct your event in privacy with the whole area dedicated to you and your party for your entire event.
