About the venue
The Reid Macewen caters for meetings, seminars, exhibitions, board meetings, private dinners, celebrations and receptions.
The centre is part of the charity Erskine which cares for ex-Service men and was named Reid Macewen in honour of the Hospital’s two greatest patrons. Sir John Reid donated the Erskine Estate and Mansion House, which was converted to the original hospital. Sir William Macewen was the eminent surgeon who led the initiative to create the hospital. Both men worked tirelessly for the benefit of Erskine, an independent Scottish charity, and the brave patients it cared for. Surrounded by parkland, the Reid Macewen was impeccably restored in 2000 in close collaboration with, and the support of Historic Scotland and the Heritage Lottery Fund. Entering through an archway under an imposing clock tower into a cobbled courtyard is like stepping back in time. The interior, however, is a careful blend of the original period features combined with state-of-the-art facilities, computer technology and audio visual equipment offering meeting and conference rooms for up to 100 delegates.
