The Best Western Red Lion Hotel has been in the Maidment family for nearly 100 years.

During recent times the hotel has undergone refurbishment and improvement, and now offers guests the delightful ambience and character of the original building whilst incorporating modern comforts and the latest facilities. During recent refurbishment of the original wing of the Best Western Red Lion, a medieval fireplace was exposed. Believed to date from around 1220 AD, it is surmounted by a magnificent stone carved fire mantle and is of similar construction to a fireplace at Old Sarum, the site of the original Cathedral. Set in the centre of the South of England, with fifty-one rooms, all en-suite, and six excellent conference rooms, the Best Western Red Lion Hotel welcomes a wide range of guests from the UK and abroad’. Please be aware that due to The Red Lion Hotel being a City Centre Hotel, we are restricted with car parking spaces. We have only 3 available that are reserved for disabled badge holders, however extra parking is available at the back of the Hotel on Brown Street which is covered by CCTV and Floodlights. The car park is however pay and display between the hours of 8am to 6pm and free between 6pm and 8am.
